BIS ISI Mark (FMCS)

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which is indeed the national standard body of India. Established under the BIS Act of 2016, its primary mandate is to oversee standardization, marking, and quality certification of goods. This encompasses ensuring the safety, reliability, and quality of products in the market.

According to the Orders, it is mandated that no individual or entity shall engage in the manufacture, storage for sale, import, sale, or distribution of goods that do not comply with the specified Indian standards outlined in the respective orders. Additionally, these goods must bear the Standard Mark with a unique registration number obtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

The coveted ISI mark on a product signifies its adherence to the specific Indian Standard (IS) developed by the BIS. Obtaining the ISI mark involves a rigorous procedure, including product testing in a BIS-recognized laboratory and a thorough inspection of the manufacturing facility.
